    December 29, 2006

The Ayles ice shelf, which is more than 11,000 football fields in size and is located just south of the North Pole, has broken free in the Canadian Arctic. Scientists say that global warming has played a "major" role in the break.

The entire 41 square miles of the shelf broke away from Ellesmere Island at least 16 months ago, and the break was discovered when a satellite took pictures of the region recently.

"This is a dramatic and disturbing event. It shows that we are losing remarkable features of the Canadian North that have been in place for many thousands of years. We are crossing climate thresholds, and these may signal the onset of accelerated change ahead," said Warwick Vincent, a Laval University scientist who studies conditions in the Arctic.

Higher temperatures are believed to have played a significant role in the break, and all 6 shelves in the Canadian Arctic have become at least 90% smaller since they were discovered in the early 1900's.

"It [the break] is consistent with climate change. We aren't able to connect all of the dots, but unusually warm temperatures definitely played a major role," added Vincent.

Seismographs detected the break and collapse of the shelf in August of 2005. The short amount of time it took for the event to occur has come as a surprise to scientists.

"What surprised us was how quickly it happened. Even 10 years ago scientists assumed that when global warming changes occur that it would happen gradually, so that perhaps we expected these ice shelves just to melt away quite slowly. It's pretty alarming," said head of the University of Ottawa's global ice lab, Luke Copland.

On December 27, the United States Department of the Interior announced it is considering adding polar bears to the threatened species list due to the effects of global warming.

    MOUNT ST. HELENS UPDATE

Current Volcanic- Alert Level WATCH ; Aviation Color Code ORANGE : Growth of the new lava dome inside the crater of Mount St. Helens continues, accompanied by low rates of seismicity, low emissions of steam and volcanic gases, and minor production of ash. During such eruptions, changes in the level of activity can occur over days to months. The eruption could intensify suddenly or with little warning and produce explosions that cause hazardous conditions within several miles of the crater and farther downwind. Small lahars could suddenly descend the Toutle River if triggered by heavy rain or by interaction of hot rocks with snow and ice. These lahars pose a negligible hazard below the Sediment Retention Structure (SRS) but could pose a hazard along the river channel upstream.

Potential ash hazards: Wind forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), coupled with eruption models, show that any ash clouds rising above the crater rim today would drift to the east.

Potential ash hazards to aviation: Under current eruptive conditions, small, short-lived explosions may produce ash clouds that exceed 30,000 feet in altitude. Ash from such events can travel 100 miles or more downwind.

Recent observations: Clouds obscure the volcano this morning, but, last night, glowing rock was visible near the top of the active spine. The volcano continues slow extrusion of a lava spine, and seismometers are registering very small earthquakes periodically, as well as occasional magnitude 1-3 earthquakes associated with rock falls and avalanches. Scientists were unable to service and repair instruments this week because of poor weather conditions.

The U.S. Geological Survey and the University of Washington continue to monitor the situation closely and will issue additional updates and changes in alert level as warranted.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Scientists have alerted British Columbia’s emergency-planning department to the possibility of a catastrophic earthquake striking the province’s southwest coast this week. While the probability of a quake is still low, rapid strides in earthquake detection have given scientists with the Pacific Geoscience Center on Vancouver Island greater confidence in their ability to predict when and where one will occur. Garry Rogers, a seismologist at the center, compared the current earthquake odds to the dangers of driving a car. “Everyone drives their car every day, and the probability of getting in a car accident is small,” Rogers said. But during rush hour, the probability of getting into an accident is much higher. “Well, Vancouver Island is now driving in rush hour.” What prompted the alert was a series of imperceptible tremors emanating from deep beneath the ocean.

April 04, 2007 (To view the Earth's current Seismic Activity click on "Visit Author's Website". Since this is kept current every 30 minutes you can check back to see the updated graphs.) http://aslwww.cr.usgs.gov/Seismic_Data/heli2.shtml

When the 8.1 earthquake hit at the Solomon Islands a few days ago every Seismic Graph shown on this site from all over the world was TOTALLY BLACK, indicating Mother Earth was shaking to the core. For the many years we have watched these graphs this was the first time we saw all graphs totally black indicating that Mother Earth is ready to begin her cleansing for real. At the present time (April 4, 2007) the graphs show much seismic activity.

April 09, 2007 Scientists from both Russia and India today are revising their fears over what they are terming could be a ‘Massive Earthquake’ in the subduction zone where the Pacific Plate moves under the Indian-Australian Plate.

Of particular concern to these scientists is the increasing seismic activity in the Azores islands region of the Atlantic Ocean and where another two 5.0, or greater, magnitude earthquakes have struck in the past 24 hours, and which continues the quake swarm for that region that began on April 5th with a strong 6.3 magnitude earthquake.

Though not fully understood by scientists, the increasing phenomena of antipodal earthquake correlations are raising concerns that a new, and as yet, unexplained internal Earth mechanism is increasingly the cause of the series of massive earthquakes that have been occurring around the World these past few weeks, and which include:

The April 5th 6.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the New Caledonia region of the Pacific Ocean.

The April 3rd 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the Afghanistan region of Asia.

The April 2nd 8.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the Solomon Island region of the Pacific Ocean.

The March 29th 5.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the Tanzania region of Africa.

The March 25th 7.2 and 7.1 magnitude earthquakes that hit the South Pacific region.

The March 25th 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the Japanese Island region.

Though earthquakes of these magnitudes are not considered by scientists to be an unusual occurrence, the concentration of these past few weeks’ higher magnitude earthquakes, in such a short time span, is what are alarming the Russian and Indian Scientists.

These reports, also, point to the research of American scientists discovery of a vast ocean under the Asian continent as, possibly, being the source of this increased seismic activity, and as we can read of this new discovery as reported by Washington University News Service in their report titled "Arctic Ocean's worth of water discovered in Earth's mantle", and which says:

"A seismologist has made the first 3-D model of seismic wave damping, or diminishing, deep in the Earth's mantle and has revealed the existence of an underground water reservoir at least the volume of the Arctic Ocean.

It is the first evidence for water existing in the Earth's deep mantle. Michael E. Wysession, Ph.D., associate professor of earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences, working with former graduate student Jesse Lawrence, analyzed 80,000 shear waves from more than 600,000 seismograms.

They found a large area in Earth's lower mantle beneath eastern Asia where water is damping out the seismic waves from earthquakes. Wysession's research is described in the forthcoming monograph "Earth's Deep Water Cycle," to be published by the American Geophysical Union."

The correlation both Russian and Indian scientists have made regarding these events, and their potential for catastrophic Earth changes, have their basis in the ongoing dispute relating to Global Warming, and where Eastern scientists are strongly opposed to the Western conclusions that the heating of our World is caused by manmade actions.

They point to the virtual ignoring by Western scientists that Global Warming is not happening just on our Earth, but is, in fact, occurring on all of our Solar Systems planets, with the worst heating occurring on the Planet Mars, and as we can read as reported by Australia’s Daily Telegraph News Service in their article titled "Global warming hits Mars", and which says:

"Global warming could be heating Mars four times faster than Earth due to a mutually reinforcing interplay of wind-swept dust and changes in reflected heat from the Sun, according a study. Scientists have long observed a correlation on Mars between its fluctuating temperatures - which range from -87 C to - 5 C (-125 F to 23 F) depending on the season and the location - and the darkening or lightening of swathes of the planet's surface."

Russian scientists, and though agreeing with their Western counterparts on the heating of the Planet Mars, ‘strongly’ dispute the reasoning of the West’s scientists and point to the recent discovery of massive amounts of water on the Red Planet, and which they believe further research will show vast amounts of water, also, in the interior regions of Mars, and just like our Planet Earth.

With this being so, and according to these reports, the evidence suggests that both the Planets Earth and Mars are experiencing ‘internal heating’ by as an yet ‘unknown’ mechanism, and by this heating the vast amounts of ‘internal waters’ of both Planets is ‘expanding’ towards the surface forcing massive plate displacements, and which they have based their present warnings upon.

Most curiously, at least in our opinion, is that the convergence of the Global Warming of our Solar Systems Planets with the increasing number of catastrophic earthquakes being experienced has a direct counterpart in the mythologies of all Earth’s Tribes in what is termed the Great Flood, and which in the Western cultures is termed Noah’s Flood.

In these ancient accounts our ancestors have left innumerable accounts relating to a time when our Earth was visited by massive geological changes that culminated with the ‘waters of the deep’ bursting from their subterranean hiding places to inundate our Planet, and which if looked at in the context of these reports from Russian and Indian scientists does indeed seem plausible if indeed our Planet, and Mars, are heating up from within.

These reports, also, come to us at a time we believe is even more significant with the arrival of the New Green Comet,(http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index888.htm) and which we have previously written about, which according to the ancient mythologies is providing one of our last warnings before the greater catastrophes due to be unleashed upon us confront us all.

Collapse of Arctic sea ice 'has reached tipping-point'

    By Steve Connor, Science Editor

    Published: 16 March 2007

A catastrophic collapse of the Arctic sea ice could lead to radical climate changes in the northern hemisphere according to scientists who warn that the rapid melting is at a "tipping point" beyond which it may not recover.

The scientists attribute the loss of some 38,000 square miles of sea ice - an area the size of Alaska - to rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as well as to natural variability in Arctic ice.

Ever since satellite measurements of the Arctic sea ice began in 1979, the surface area covered by summer sea ice has retreated from the long-term average. This has increased the rate of coastal erosion from Alaska to Siberia and caused problems for polar bears, which rely on sea ice for hunting seals.

However, in recent years the rate of melting has accelerated and the sea ice is showing signs of not recovering even during the cold, dark months of the Arctic winter. This has led to even less sea ice at the start of the summer melting season.

Mark Serreze, a senior glaciologist at the University of Colorado at Boulder, said the world was heading towards a situation where the Arctic will soon be almost totally ice-free during summer, which could have a dramatic impact on weather patterns across the northern hemisphere.

"When the ice thins to a vulnerable state, the bottom will drop out and we may quickly move into a new, seasonally ice-free state of the Arctic," Dr Serreze said.

"I think there is some evidence that we may have reached that tipping point, and the impacts will not be confined to the Arctic region," he said.

Some studies have linked the loss of sea ice in the Arctic to changes in atmospheric weather patterns that influence such things as rainfall in southern and western Europe and the amount of snow in the Rocky Mountains of the American Midwest.

The Arctic is one of the fastest warming regions on Earth and scientists fear that temperatures could rise even faster once sea ice melts to expose dark ocean, which absorbs heat more easily without its reflective cap of ice.

"While the Arctic is losing a great deal of ice in the summer months, it now seems that it also is regenerating less ice in the winter. With this increasing vulnerability, a kick to the system just from natural climate fluctuations could send it into a tailspin," Dr Serreze said.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, changing wind patterns flushed much of the thick sea ice out of the Arctic Ocean and into the North Atlantic, where it drifted south and melted away.

A thinner layer of young ice formed in its place, which more readily melts during the warmer, summer months - leading to the appearance of a greater area of open water that absorbs sunlight and heat. The summer sea ice reached an all-time minimum in September 2005, with September 2006 the second lowest.

"This ice-flushing even could be a small-scale analogue of the sort of kick that could invoke rapid collapse, or it could have been the kick itself. At this point, I don't think we really know," Dr Serreze said.

Julienne Stroeve from the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado said that the winter sea ice failed again this year to recover fully.

"The freeze-up this year was again delayed, and ice extents from October through to December set new record lows during the satellite era," she said.

Computer models suggest that summer sea ice could disappear altogether by 2080. Some forecasts even predict an ice-free summer

[DrRichBoylanReports] 1:58 pm PDT bulletin: 100-starcraft formation 2000' over Roseville California right now

    Friends,

As I write this, a fleet of 100 starcraft are in formation over Roseville (a suburb of Sacramento), California Army Sergeant Justin Johnson, a friend, just phoned me that the fleet is in a formation of two long lines, and hovering or very slowly moving at 2000' altitude above Roseville. Justin was dumbfounded at the size of this formation, which dwarfs the five-craft display of presence over Lima, Peru some weeks ago. The craft are best seen with sunglasses to cut through the glare from the sun on the smoggy air. Justin says that when a craft tilts slightly, the glint of reflected sunlight is quite distinct. Apparently the Star Visitors are ramping up the size of their demonstration-of-presence flights over major population centers. All to the good, as the UFO Cover-Up slowly but surely crumbles.

    in the light,

Harvey Wasserman: The Earthquake that Screamed "NO NUKES!!!"

    Harvey Wasserman Visit Author's Website

    July 23, 2007

The massive earthquake that shook Japan this week nearly killed millions in a nuclear apocalypse.

It also produced one of the most terrifying sentences ever buried in a newspaper. As reported deep in The New York Times, the Tokyo Electric Company admitted that "the force of the shaking caused by the earthquake had exceeded the design limits of the reactors, suggesting that the plant's builders had underestimated the strength of possible earthquakes in the region."

There are 55 reactors in Japan. Virtually all of them are on or near major earthquake faults. Kashiwazaki alone hosts seven, four of which were forced into the dangerous SCRAM mode to narrowly avoid meltdowns. At least 50 separate serious problems have been so far identified, including fire and the spillage of barrels filled with radioactive wastes.

There are four active reactors in California on or near major earthquake faults, as are the two at Indian Point north of New York City. On January 31, 1986, an earthquake struck the Perry reactor east of Cleveland, knocking out roads, bridges, and pipes within the plant, which (thankfully) was not operating at the time. Then Ohio governor Richard Celeste sued to keep

Perry shut, but lost in federal court.

The fault that hit Perry is an off-shoot of the powerful New Madrid line that runs through the Mississippi River Valley, threatening numerous reactors. The Beyond Nuclear Project reports that in August 2004, a quake hit the Dresden reactor in Illinois, resulting in a leak of radioactive tritium. Nevada's Yucca Mountain, slated as the nation's high-level radioactive waste dump, has a visible fault line running through it.

More than 400 atomic reactors are online worldwide. We can only shudder to guess how many are vulnerable to seismic shocks. But one-eighth of them sit in one of the world's richest, most technologically advanced, most densely populated industrial nations, which has now admitted its reactor designs cannot match the power of an earthquake that just happened.

No matter the language, this translates into the unmistakable warning that the world's atomic reactors constitute a multiple, ticking seismic time bomb. Talk of building more can only be classified as suicidal irresponsibility.

Tokyo Electric's behavior since the quake defines the industry's credibility. For three consecutive days (with more undoubtedly to come), the utility has been forced to issue public apologies for erroneous statements about the severity of the damage done to the reactors, the size, and lethality of radioactive spills into the air and water, the ongoing danger to the public, and much more.

Once again, the only thing reactor owners can be trusted to do is to lie.

Prior to the March 28, 1979 disaster at Three Mile Island, the industry for years assured the public that the kind of accident that did happen was "impossible."

Then the utility repeatedly assured the public there had been no meltdown of fuel and no danger of further catastrophe. Nine years later, a robotic camera showed that nearly all the fuel had melted, and that avoiding a full-blown catastrophe was little short of a miracle.

The industry continues to say no one was killed at TMI. But it does not know how much radiation was released, where it went, or who it might have harmed. Since 1979, its allies in the courts have denied 2,400 central Pennsylvania families the right to test their belief that they and their loved ones have been killed and maimed en masse.

Prior to its April 26, 1986, explosion, Soviet Life Magazine ran a major feature extolling the virtually "accident-proof design" of Chernobyl Unit Four. Then, the Soviet Union of Mikhail Gorbachev kept secret the gargantuan radiation releases that have killed thousands and yielded a horrific plague of cancers, leukemia, birth defects, and more throughout the region, and among the more than 800,000 drafted "jumpers" who were forced to run through the plant to clean it up.

Since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, the industry has claimed its reactors can withstand the effects of a jet crash, and are immune to sabotage. The claims are as patently absurd as the lies about TMI and Chernobyl.

So, too, the endless, dogged assurances from Japan that no earthquake could do to Kashiwazaki what has just happened. Yet today and into the future, expensive ads will flood the U.S. and global airwaves, full of nonsense about the "need" for new nukes. There is only one thing we know for certain about this advertising: it is a lie.

Atomic reactors contribute to global warming rather than abating it. In construction, in the mining, milling, and enriching of the fuel, in ongoing "normal" releases of heat and radioactivity, in dismantling and decommissioning, in managing radioactive wastes, in future terror attacks, in proliferation of nuke weapons, and much much more, atomic energy is an unmitigated eco-disaster.

To this list, we must now add additional tangible evidence that reactors allegedly built to withstand "worst case" earthquakes in fact, cannot. And when they go down, the investment is lost, and power shortages arise (as is now happening in Japan) that are filled by the burning of fossil fuels.

It costs up to 10 times as much to produce energy from a nuke as to save it with efficiency. Advances in wind, solar, and other green "Solartopian" technologies mean atomic energy simply cannot compete without massive subsidies, loan guarantees, and government insurance to protect it from catastrophes to come.

This latest "impossible" earthquake has not merely shattered the alleged safeguards of Japan's reactor fleet. It has blown apart -- yet again -- any possible argument for building more reactors anywhere on this beleaguered Earth.

Personal Report of Peru Quake from Dr. Kristen Neiling in Argentina

    Mitch Battros Visit Author's Website

    August 18, 2007

    Over 1000 people dead---

The Peru 8.0 earthquake was felt in Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, and even Colombia. This is considered to be the most serious earthquake in the last several decades in Peru. The only communication system working is the Internet. No water, no electricity, no telephones, no food. President Alan Garcia has called a State of Emergency for at least for the next 60 days.

Situation is getting worst---Over 1,000 dead; people are in the streets destroying entire cities looking for food, more tourists missing. Aftershocks are intensifying and people are terrified.

According to sources, the city of Pisco is being reported as completely destroyed. Homes do not exist; bodies are all over the place and no hope to find people alive. Still not able to get to remote locations.

All prisoners, estimated to be around 300 from the Pisco jail, escaped when one entire wall fell and left the prison open.

Huge fractures in the Earth's crust are visible throughout the locations. Electric wires are hanging all over the cities blocking the main highways south of Lima to the Andes mountains. No access is possible.

Pope Benedict XVI is asking all countries in the western world for help to assist Peru in this tragedy.

International Red Cross and the Crescent Moon, have sent airplanes, tents, plastic covers, blankets, and water.
